H&M, the Swedish clothing retailer, plans to enter the Ukrainian market in 2018, the company said in its interim report published on 29 June. The exact timeframe or location of the first store has not been provided, however.
At the turn of 2016 and 2017, top managers of H&M twice came on a working visit to Ukraine, expressing interest mostly in Kyiv shopping centres, Ukrainian media reported at that time.
The H&M group now has now about 4,500 stores in 66 markets. Ukraine is the only one out of the eight CEE countries reviewed by PMR (the others are Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, and Slovakia) where H&M stores are still not present. Meanwhile, there were 478 of the retailer’s outlets in the seven mentioned markets as of 31 May 2017.
