The group of four Czech investors which owns the franchise of the UK-based Hamleys toy store chain in five countries of the Central and Eastern Europe is going to open its second store, e15.cz reported. The first store was opened in Prague in May 2016 and the second store will be opened in Warsaw, Poland. The store will be located in the Galeria Polnocna shopping mall and the investments will reach €2m. According to the investors' statements, the rental contract with the shopping centre has already been signed and the store will be open in summer 2017.
The Hamleys store in Prague is the spans across about 6,000 m2 of retail area and employs more than 100 people. The Czech investors predict that it will be visited by 2.7 million customers during its first year of operation and its annual revenues should be about CZK 300m (€11.1m). The Polish store will cover 1,600 m2 of retail area.
The Czech operator of the Hamleys brand also owns the franchising licence for Slovakia, Austria and Hungary. According to its statement, it is possible that the next store will be open in Vienna in spring 2018.
