Polish market of cosmetics will grow despite its maturity

Dominika Kubacka, Senior Retail Analyst, PMR

Despite its maturity, the Polish market of cosmetics remains a developing market and thanks to the systematic growth in a three year perspective its value is likely to rise. However, only few gain from its expansion, mainly health and beauty chains and discount stores. The online trade in cosmetics is also expanding. However, most channels of cosmetic sales are, to various degrees, losing importance. Some note a decrease in shares, as they expand at the same rate, or slower than the market, i.e. supermarkets, pharmacies or direct sales. The complementary channels, such as general stores, small grocery stores, kiosks or marketplaces observe lower sales of cosmetics, and their share is shrinking much more clearly.
